Working from Home – Disassembly

Step 1: Shutdown Laptop and Monitor(s)

Issue shutdown on laptop and then press the power button on the monitor(s). Undock the laptop and set aside to be taken home.

 

Step 2: Monitor to Surge Protector

Locate the power cable on the back of the monitor. Follow the power cable to the other end and disconnect it from the surge protector only – leave cable connected to monitor.  Repeat if using two monitors.

Step 3: Monitor to Docking Station

Locate the monitor cable on the back of the monitor. Follow the monitor cable to the other end and disconnect it from the docking station only – leave cable connected to monitor.  Repeat if using two monitors.

Place the monitor(s) aside to be taken home.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4: Keyboard and Mouse

Disconnect the keyboard and mouse from the USB ports on the back of the docking station.

Place the keyboard and mouse aside to be taken home.

 

Step 5: Network

Disconnect the network cable from the docking station. Leave the network cable draped on the desk for reassembly when returning to the office.

      

 

Step 6: Docking Station Power

Disconnect the docking station power supply cable from the docking station, and then disconnect the docking station power supply cable to the surge protector at the other end.

Place the docking station power supply cable aside to be aside to be taken home.

 

 

Step 7: Docking Station

All cables should now be disconnected from the docking station. If any cables are still connected, disconnect them now. Place the docking station aside to be taken home.

 

Step 8: Surge Protection

All cables should now be disconnected from the surge protector. If any cables are still connected, disconnect then now. Unplug the surge protector from the wall outlet.

Place the surge protector aside to be aside to be taken home.

Step 9: Exit Checklist

Reference the Exit Checklist to ensure that all items are obtained and packed for transport.
